The History of Botanical Art

We are very pleased to welcome Sally Pinhey to give our Spring Lecture for 2023. Sally is one of Britain’s foremost botanical illustrators. Her work is known for its liveliness, charm and detail as well as botanical accuracy, holding numerous RHS Medals.

The History of Botanical Art is moulded by three main factors: changing purposes, changing techniques and development of magnification aids.  Sally's talk follows these developments and traces the connection to the changing trends in botanical illustrations over the centuries, bringing us to the present day of digital photography.

Sally Pinhey has been a botanical art instructor for Kingston Maurward College, Dorchester, Dorset, for the Springhead Trust and for the Eden Project. She publishes and markets her designs as prints and greetings cards from her home near Dorchester.

Please book tickets in advance - tickets are £12 for members and £15 for non-members. For further information and to book please go to the website: https://www.berkshiregardenstrust.org/march-2023-zoom-lecture
