An online talk, delivered via Zoom, by Martin Buckland, whose interest in industrial archaeology was first inspired by the trains running through his home town of Iver. The talk explores the many people who can be described as 'canal people' inclding canal builders from ancient Egypt and China,civil engineers of the Industrial Revolution and the navvies who built the canals. There are those who worke don the boats in peacetime and wartiime, the people who founded the retoration movement, and the various groups involve din retsoring the canals in the 21st century.
