The Berkshire Downs

Janet Firth from the Berkshire Archaeology Research Group (BARG) will talk about the 1964 excavation of the Neolithic Lambourn long barrow, the Late Bronze Age site of Weathercock Hill in 1983, and the survey of ancient field boundaries from 1984 onwards. A chance to get some idea of the contribution of voluntary archaeology to our understanding of the past.

Part of the Festival of Archaeology Fringe 2018. A free event, and non-ticketed, all seating unreserved.

While visiting this event, take the opportunity to look round BARG's exhibition at the Museum, "Still Digging Up the Past" celebrating 60 years of revealing West Berkshire's fascinating archaeology and history.
